The Miracle of Tuna

July 28, 2006

I bought my sandwich today. It was a whopping $2.50 at a bakery up the road. I think it’s called ‘Bakery’. They make these super cheap, super fresh sandwiches and they taste super good too. I went for the tuna. The first bite of a tuna sandwich is a little mysterious. Is it gonna’ be Mayo or Miracle Whip? This one was Miracle Whip. M/W isn’t usually my flavour, but it was a nice change.

Gourmet Grillin’

July 27, 2006

After marinating some veggies for two days it was time to fire them on the bbq last night. I took some red and green peppers and sliced some zucchini, then soaked them in a garlic, olive oil and balsamic vinegar mixture.  It all turned out super tasty. This was for sure one of my more gourmet sandwiches.

Ingredients: Grilled Veggies, Feta Cheese, Oregano and Pepper on multigrain toast.

Love Triangle

July 26, 2006

I love triangle sandwiches. They remind me of being at daycare or kindergarden when kids used to eat the sandwich right down the middle so the peanut  butter and jam would smear all over their cheeks….. not me, other kids.

Today’s sandwich is a repeat offender. It was one of my first entries, last june. It’s the roast beef, I’m telling you I could eat it once a week. This time I used horseradish and regular mustard instead of using hot mustard. Similar, but different. I also used those pre-cut pickles and fit two slices on the bread instead of the 10 slices of mini dills in the o.g. shot. It was really, really good.

Ingredients: Homemade Roast Beef, Pickles, Mustard and Horseradish on multigrain bread….sliced diagonally.

July 25, 2006

I bought a whole, lemon & garlic marinated chicken from the butcher last night. I bbq’d the sucka’ and she made for delicious leftovers today. Cooking on the bbq is fun. Flames and grill marks, always a good time.

Ingredients: Bbq’d chicken, Cucumber, Green Onion, Pepper and Mayo, all mixed together between toated multigrain bread.

The People Have Spoken

July 24, 2006

Hunh. I didn’t realize nutella and jam together on a sandwich was so rare, but by people’s reactions around the office, apparently it is.

Ingredients: Nutella and Raspberry Jam on toasted multigrain bread.

Chez Nix

July 22, 2006

Well, what a coincidence. The one day I don’t bring a lunch is the same day Nix decides to bring a sandwich to work. I’ll just blog his lunch then. Thankfully he doesn’t mind me taking pictures of his food. Unfortunatly I’ll have to use my imagination, like the rest of you, cause he wasn’t offering any taste tests.

Ingredients: Turkey, Bacon, Swiss cheese, Avocado and Mayo on a toasted sesame seed bagel.

Pizza Party!

July 20, 2006

Although a pizza party would be an ideal way to spend my lunch, I stayed true to my sandwich diet and crafted the next best thing. It was an excellent use of my yummy pasta dinner leftovers, that were recreated into a pizza sub.

Ingredients: Chorizo Sausage (bbq-ed), Jalepeno Havarti, Red & Green Peppers and Tomato Sauce on (both sides of) a whole wheat bun.

Turkey Supreme

July 19, 2006

I think I’ve got another 2 days of these whole wheat portuguese buns, then I promise I’ll switch up the bread. But for now…

Ingredients: Smoked Turkey Breast, Avocado, Tomato, Lettuce, Mayo, Hot Mustard, S&P on a w/w bun.

July 19, 2006

One day, two sandwiches. Good day.

Ingredients(#1): Jalepeno Havarti, Pickles and mayo on a whole wheat bun.

Ingredients(#2): Feta Cheese, Pitted Kalamata Olives, Tomato, Oregano, Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil on toasted whole wheat bun.

July 17, 2006

I definitly lost marks for creativity today. I came to work fully unprepared for lunch and went grocery shopping on my break. The end result was meat and bun. Is that bad? I kinda’ felt like I was eating a sandwich in the Amsterdam airport or something. Bread + Ham = Boring. Actually, I thought I was buying a more traditional prosciutto, but it turned out to be straight up ham. Oh well, the week can only get better.

Ingredients: Rosemary Prosciutto and Portuguese Bun

It doesn’t even deserve a full size pic….
